Haidilao: A Lobster on a Goldmine

Port Hardy (Xinhua Agency)—The boisterous discussions of Haidilao’s 2025 Board of Directors can be heard echoing through the hotel hallways, unanimous shouts of “Mr. Director” coming from all corners of the table. While there has yet to be a crisis, the board is seen hard at work, articulately planning Haidilao’s future success.

Throughout the passionate debate, it became a unified decision to focus the companies eyes to international expansion. Having the responsibility to maintain an annual revenue of 41.5 Billion RMB, it is in great interest of the company to become a staple in Western society.

By reflecting on previous blunders—Haidilao’s closing of 300 stores due to the significant uprise in expense and unfortunately dip in profit, the world renown hotpot company has agreed to take a slower approach. “Our company sits on a goldmine” exclaimed Li Peng, the Chief Financial Officer. With America spending approximately four times that of mainland China, it was a intuitive choice to focus the company’s efforts internationally—metaphorically comparing America to Haidilao’s goldmine. While the idea rolled through the conference room, settling down in the minds of each Director, Vice Chairman Zhuo Zhaocheng pushed for a cheaper version of Haidilao as “with more customers, we create more profit”. In the midst of these vibrant opinions, Li Peng accurately summarized the looming thoughts through a vivid approach—“would you rather launch a lobster the size of an ant or the side of the Empire State building?”

Following this expansion, many directors added their individual tastes to Haidilao’s current system. As a company offering many diverse experiences such as manicures, dances, and free prizes—the board of directors each contributed their thoughts to improve profit. From enhancing it’s playful dynamic through games in which customers can instead compete for prizes to the addition of innovative AI friends greeting entering customers, each director brings a prevalent point to the table. As the multitalented company thrives for success, it’s ever positive motto to improve quality and provide efficient post pandemic food delivery options will evidently support the boards vision of prosperity. Like each Directors vibrant vision of Haidilao, Xinhua News Agency looks forward to the boards never ending persistence to meet it’s revenue goal through impending challenges.
