NEWS | United Nations High Commission for Refugees
Asylum seekers are displaced people who face danger in their native countries and desire to move to a more secure nation. Increased violence leads to more people losing their homes, while unfriendly nations risk their inhabitants. The United Nations High Commission for Refugees appears to have an excellent answer to this global challenge. This resolution, sponsored by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Italy, Somalia, Turkey, and Yemen, emphasized effective relocation processes to countries that can readily receive refugees.
Aside from common and obvious solutions, this resolution paper also endorsed other methods such as having embassy agencies near conflict zones so that they can speed up the processing of paperwork for asylum seekers. As this issue not only impacts nations facing hardship but also those nations accepting refugees, the resolution approves a percentage of the nation’s funds to be reserved for immediate attention situations. Legal aid and social integration programs were also mentioned alongside the employment of asylum seekers, and refugee camps can be improved from residences meant for temporary stay to more viable and stable infrastructure. In these refugee centres, trade schools and language classes would be set up for refugees to get employment certification and remove the communication barrier so that they can easily get a job based on their skill set when immigrating to a new nation, allowing for easier integration.
With the seamless implementation of this resolution in all affected nations, millions of displaced people will have the opportunity to live the life of luxuries we all live today.
