IPC: Overtake: The Sequel

Previously, the Greenpeace (GP) committee had taken over the International Press Corps’ (IPC) sacred space: the corridor behind Parksville. However, after a brief “come back to the room!” from the wonderful Greenpeace Chair, the GP delegates flocked away, and back into their committee rooms they went.

IPC was left unbothered for a short period of time. And then, it happened again.

It was noon, and the sun was shining brightly against the sleek, modern building of the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre. Emily, the IPC Director, and Emmly, the IPC Chair, were ducking from the light: behind the giant cement poles, and trying to evade the ball of fire trying to light their Western Business Attire ablaze. And then, it happened again. The GP delegates. They were here again.

Greenpeace flew into the hallway; they were like a rampage of wild boars and lions in the Sahara, running from hunters, and the National Geographic. They invaded the IPC corridor and began discussing their bloc ideas, as if it was their natural habitat. But is it? IPC is horrified, or dare I say, shocked, and appalled. They return to their furious typing, furious editing, and fury of being denied a proper committee room, and the horrible invasion of Greenpeace. Will they ever recover?

A light has shone through the tainted windows of the Wall Centre. A call for “Lunchtime!” and “Photos!” echoes through the IPC corridor. The GP delegates scurried away to indulge in their cravings, and IPC lined up in order to take their committee photos. IPC was safe once again… but is it prolonged?

Greenpeace seeks to: protect biodiversity in all its forms, – prevent pollution and abuse of the earth’s ocean, land, air and fresh water, – end all nuclear threats, promote peace, global disarmament and non-violence. Thank you for the unwavering support in our mission to combat the harm which our sacred planet faces.
