The 20th iteration of the Canadian High Schools Model United Nations (CAHSMUN) opened with an air of distress for the delegates belonging to the International Press Corps (IPC). Upon entering the committee room, the first greeting that could be heard echoing off the walls was the chair saying that the projector in the committee room was missing so IPC delegates would have to join SOCHUM for the opening ceremony.
The various news agencies begrudgingly filed into the SOCHOM committee room to attend the opening ceremony. This disruption was seemingly temporary, as after the opening ceremony concluded, the International Press Corps was back in business. That was until half of the news agencies were unable to access the news-sharing platform. The technical difficulties with accessing the news platform caused frustration among the delegates, leading to a significant delay in reporting on the events of the conference. Despite the setbacks, the International Press Corps remained determined to cover the conference and provide accurate and timely news coverage; thus, the first committee session forged on, and IPC delegates were released into the halls of the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Center like a flock of white doves in a funeral.
As the technical team worked slowly, yet tirelessly to resolve the issues, the journalists improvised by utilizing a platform that has yet to fail the masses: Google Documents. The resilience of the International Press Corps was evident as they continued to adapt and find ways to fulfil their reporting duties.
