Lyndon B.Johnson, the American President
In the wake of the approaching time of lunch at CAHSMUN, committees have been busy and well under way. For the JJC-A, new strategies for war are just beginning, with the Americans discussing intensely in attempts to become victorious over the JJC-B committee, the North Vietnamese. In this waging war, it is crucial for not one but both sides to collaborate and discuss strategies if they want to succeed.
So far, it cannot be determined whether or not JCC-A has an advantage, however various thought provoking plans of action have been proposed. Previously, the delegates were incredibly passionate in their opposition to the Vietnamese, making bold assertions and facing every challenge with enthusiasm, which can be observed by hearing the sharp knocks of knuckles on wood. Currently, they still are, causing them to take desperate measures in order for victory to be secured.
One solution was made by the USA president himself-Lyndon B.Johnson. His proposition consisted of negotiating with the Vietnamese, to make a war changing deal to perhaps shift the tides in their favour. Here is what was said:
“In exchange for details about the location of the troops as well as the giving some of his (Ho Chi Minh’s) personal troops to us (…) we have my wife in exchange, as well as that we will stabilize South Vietnam after the war is over.”
In the beginning, there were several oppositions, with delegates questioning the idea of why the president would give up his wife for this specific deal, as well as accusations that he would get divorced. Though the focus quickly shifted into more important matters; Vietnamese spies who would, in the American’s words, “will kill everyone unless you accept communism.” The delegate added on by saying that they must take the leader of the North Vietnamese, Ho Chi Minh, “out of the Communist equation” before anything else. However an opposition as brought up, saying how someone else would just take his place if they took him out, and the only reason why he was allowing America to do this was because “he just wants your wife so bad.” (Directed at the president)
Later on when voting on public directives, the directive to boost American propaganda to attempt to get rid of “communist ideas” was passed, which included the use of the President’s deal to exchange his wife. Moving forward, the committee will continue discuss future strategies and plans, and BBC wishes safe travels to those civilians who are still currently around the region.
