In a weekend full of intense debate and even more intense social gathering, one conservative senator made himself a night he won’t ever forget by flopping the winning hand at the poker table.

With a weekend of passionate law making, debating, and paper writing behind him, conservative senator Scott Tannis has a happy future to look forward to, especially when considering the handsome sum of one million dollars he won playing poker at the delegate social night. Partaking in the event for a night of fun and socialization with fellow delegates, Scott had no intention of turning a profit, but was none the less willing to put his hard earned pay on the line for the thrill of it. Politicians like Tannis lead by example for all of Canada, embodying their own political beliefs and values perfectly for the people they represent to see. Being a member of the federal Conservative Party, Scott believes that the money he works for is rightfully his, and that he can spend it in any way he pleases, even if he’s risking it all at the high stakes table.
“I’m glad that we live in a world where I can spend my money how I choose. Hell, if we didn’t, I’d certainly be a decent bit poorer now wouldn’t I? In all seriousness, a world without finical freedoms, or freedoms as a whole, is a world I 100% wouldn’t want to be apart of, and neither would the Canadians I represent.”
– Senator Scott Tannis
In the exclusive interview Fox News was able to get with Tannis, the senator proved just how important freedom is to him and to all of us. A world where the government constantly steps in to baby its citizens and make sure they are spending their money in a “good” way, or worse, a world where the government doesn’t let their citizens spend their money at all, creates a world that has no value. The Declaration of Independence famously states that certain rights are inalienable and that principle among those rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and having the ability to freely spend your money as you choose falls squarely within the ladder two. A life without happiness is a life not worth living; if the only thing that matters in the eyes of the government is simply whether or not its citizens are alive then that is a government that has failed; and if a man is denied his right to risk his life savings on a night in Vegas, than the world must have succumb to something truly horrendous.
