In a brief interview with Greece in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, we focused on one main question: “How does Greece foster unity among times of disagreement with the other countries?”
Greece is committed to finding common ground with the country of disagreement by identifying how they can find shared strategic interests in the face of differing viewpoints and keeping their discussions focused on the disagreed-upon subject to continue to work towards unity for the countries.
Greece is also committed to negotiation as a way of keeping unity: finding common strategies each country uses to build a consensus, and engaging in multi-country and binary country discussions to clarify positions. They are also dedicated to understanding the different perspectives that separate countries may have to keep an open mind during discussion and debate.
Greece’s open mindedness and commitment to keeping unity during disagreement is their secret to remaining friendly with their fellow NATO countries.
