With many committees moving onto their second topic, DISEC opens their discussion with a surprising statement.
April 5th, at 3:35 PM, the DISEC committee opens discussion on the topic of automated weapons and cyber terrorism. After a calm first topic, we’re all looking for a little excitement.
Irisa Rao, the director of DISEC, states that she would like more violence from her delegates: “As we move into topic B ,the delegation would look favorably towards more violence”
This statement is quick followed up by with a clarification from by the chair Victor Zhang: “we mean literary violence, not actual violence, please.”
As DISEC is a beginner committee, it is not uncommon for delegates to be nervous during discussion and speeches.
However, as committees enter the second topic, this is your friendly reminder to (verbally) attack your fellow delegates in the name of the person, place or thing you represent.
