With the Ottoman Empire’s rapid economic expansion, the Holy League is beginning to feel threatened. The Ottoman military seems to be rapidly growing likely due to their newfound economic success through farming.
Reports of troops massing near Vienna has worried some in the Holy Roman Empire who believe they may struggle to defend any attacks. One source even went as far as to say, “we are at a disadvantage … right now we should be playing our defence,” yet others seem to believe otherwise. However, the opposition’s idea can be summed up in these words: “(F)ortunatly due to our cunning and wise leaders I believe that we will be able to defuse the situation.”
It seems as if there may be some miscommunication within the Holy League, but they seem relatively in control. They are currently in the process of electing a new pope. They seem to believe their new religious leader will lead them as both a political figure and unite their religious tensions.
In summary the situation is tense however it seems that there is likely still an opportunity for both sides to leave this with a positive outcome. It is obviously in everyone’s interest that this is solved peacefully with as little bloodshed as possible.
